Aim
To develop an understanding of the prevalence, nature,
effects and impacts of domestic and sexual abuse. To discuss service provision, high-light key
agencies and their roles and to consider support skills.
Objectives
- Increase knowledge of what constitutes domestic and sexual
abuse and the prevalence in society
- Examine the possible impacts, effects, indicators and
outcomes of domestic and sexual abuse
- Raise awareness of the importance of working in partnership
and promoting good practice
- Consider local support agencies/services and their roles
Learning Outcomes
On completing this training participants will:
- Understand the complexities surrounding domestic and sexual
abuse
- Recognise the difficulties for women leaving or staying away
from an abuser
- Know how to give appropriate and effective support
- Begin to consider implementing new practice in the work
place

of other agencies and inter-agency working
